What a Weekend

Started out the weekend with a trip to Lee's Summit, MO with two of my sisters to check out Henry's Antiques & Collectibles and Tea Room. This shop is privately owned, does not utilize the traditional consignment booth format, instead items are purchased from individuals. The building it is located in was once a Christian Church. In the basement is the Tea Room. We decided to have lunch there and was not disappointed. It is beautifully decorated and the food was very good. Couldn't have asked for a nicer waitress either. Check it out sometime - I think you'll like it. Of course, on the way home from Lee's Summit we HAD to stop by Quilters Station, in Lee's Summit, to check out their sale fabric and see what their Shop Hop quilt design looked like. Did pick up some fabric on sale for $4.50 a yard. I got 3 yards of Kansas Troubles fabric. There is sooooo much fabric there it's unbelievable. A great shop. Then since we were so close we had to stop by Rustic Yearnings Quilt Shop in Independence, MO. to be sure we didn't miss anything. Finally onward to home. Another fun day with my sisters. Did you know that Ott-Lite has a new lamp out. It's call the Tulip Lamp and comes in three colors - blue, silver and pearl white. Was on sale at Michaels for only $29.99 - that is $50 off the regular price. Picked up mine this afternoon and I love it. Went by my sister's to see the one she picked up which was blue (mine is silver), then another sister and niece came by and they had gotten one of the lamps also (a silver one and the pearl white). Spent the rest of the afternoon working on a couple of BOM's - a block for a retreat quilt I'm working on and the 2nd block for the Thimbleberries Club Quilt for this year. Here in Liberty, MO our temperature got to 90 degrees today and of course, that brought us thunderstorms, rain, hail and even tornados in some areas. But it has certainly cooled down. Well, off to bed with me now because it's back to work with me tomorrow morning. Good night.

My First Blog Entry - Friday

Friday has finally arrived. What a busy week this has been - at least with quilting! I belong to a Yahoo Group named Quilters Hollow and had signed up to participate in a "friendship swap." Since 12 ladies signed up to participate, that meant I needed to make 12 blocks. Well, the blocks were to be mailed in time to get to NJ by April 1st (April Fools Day) and of course, as I usually tend to do, I waited until the last minute to finish up with them but FINALLY did on Wednesday night and got them in the mail on Thursday morning - Priority Mail that is! The block chosen to make was from Scrap-Basket Surprises by Kim Brackett - Bali Sea Star. Was really an easy block to make but 12 of them took a while. Now I await the return of 12 blocks - one from each lady who participated in the swap. Then HAD to go to our LQS - The Wooden Spool - last night for their FQ sale - needed more FQ's for my stash! LOL

I'd better get off now and head to bed. Busy day tomorrow - checking out a couple of antique shops in Lee's Summit, MO.
